Ecologies of Publishing Futures

Andrew Piper recently gave the keynote address at the Ecologies of Publishing Futures Symposium at the Royal College of Art, London. Entitled “The Distributed Book,” the lecture addressed issues around publishing past and future, such as analogue and digital forms of publishing and the influences of technology. Ecologies of Publishing Futures was a one-day international symposium (Nov. 23, 2015), which looked at the future of publishing and the ways in which designers engage in the new ecologies. The event brought together academics, designers, storytellers, publishers and students, in order to explore the book and its lifecycle, speculating on publishing futures including the role of writing, designing and the processes of mediating, distributing and reading.
